Our bodies are all different. Our DNA is different and our
bodies respond to certain treatments in different ways. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to tell us that. But our bodies also give off basic signs of when we are
getting too much of something or not enough of something. Here are some tell
tale ways we can determine what our beauty issues mean and how to deal
with them.
Dry, or Damaged Hair. Don't you hate that brittle, weak, hay-like feeling when you brush or run your fingers through your hair? This could mean that you aren’t using a moisturizing or hydrated
shampoo, or that you are applying too much heat, such as from a hair
straightener, hair dryer or curling iron, or it even can be caused from sun damage.
Another potential cause is nutrition. Most wouldn’t
think that what they eat or don’t eat has an effect on hair health, but it
does. Unhealthy diets, or for those who may not eat enough can cause our
hair to become brittle and weak, ultimately leading to damage.
The solution here? Using a conditioner, hydrating or moisturizing shampoo, or
even sticking to a healthier diet can lead to stronger and healthier hair.
Weak or Yellow Nails.
This is especially difficult to overcome in the winter. Our skin is always so dry and
itchy, and it can be difficult to maintain strong, beautiful nails. However,
weak or yellow nails can mean something different. It can mean that our
nails are being exposed to too many chemicals such as various nail polishes,
nail polish removers, or even shampoo and soap from washing dishes. In addition
to dry and damaged hair, weak and yellow nails can also be an effect from a
lack of protein or iron in your diet.
To fix this? Use nail polish removers without
acetone, or wash dishes using gloves, and eating a banana or having a
salad at least once per day. You can also use moisturizers for your hands that will not only battle dry skin, which could also lead to weak nails, but will also supply your skin with Vitamin E. Over a short period of time, you will begin to
see your nails become stronger and healthier.
Acne.
This is probably the most annoying, frustrating, and stubborn beauty concern many of us have. Even
more annoying is the fact that acne could be caused by a number of issues:
nutrition, stress, skin allergies, hormones, dehydration, or even genetics.
However, try some home remedies such
as drinking more water, cutting out
greasy, junk food, or even changing your pillow cases. After a little while, pillow cases can become gritty with hair products and oil from our skin that can make our skin dirtier.
If you have a severe acne problem, be sure to speak to a licensed health care professional, such as your primary
care health care provider or dermatologist.
Health and beauty concerns certainly go hand-in-hand. If you are currently experiencing or have experienced one, several, or even all these beauty concerns at one point or another, then you know how frustrating, annoying, and disconcerting they can be. Well, worry no more. While some of these beauty concerns can also mean health concerns and illnesses on a larger scale, most of these can be treated with home remedies or altering simple beauty habits and changing diets.
